Victor DeVera Jr., 78, of Hilo died May at Tripler Army Medical Center in Honolulu. Born in Hilo, he was a retired ramp and cargo agent for the former Aloha Airlines and was a U.S. Army and Hawaii Army National Guard veteran. Visitation 10 a.m.-noon Sunday (June 21) at Dodo Mortuary Chapel. Memorial service at noon. Casual attire. Harue Mende, 94, of Hilo died May 26 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Kohala, she was a retired salesclerk for J.C. Penney and member of Honpa Hongwanji Hilo Betsuin, Buddhist Women’s Association (Fujinkai) and Hiroshima Kenjin Kai. Services held. No flowers or koden (monetary gifts). Survived by son, Howard S. Mende of Torrance, Calif.; daughter, Jane S. Mende of Hilo; brother, Terumi Kubomitsu of Honolulu; sister, Alice Sadako (the Rev. Kaneo) Ino of Aiea; nephews, nieces and cousins. Sandra Eileen Song, 65, of Hilo died June 10 at Hospice of Hilo Pohai Malama Facility. Born in Chicago, she was an attorney, retired District Court judge, volunteer mediator and board member of Kuikahi Mediation Center, member and judge with Hilo Orchid Society and American Orchid Society. Visitation 4:30-6 p.m. Monday (June 22) at Dodo Mortuary Chapel. Memorial service at 6 p.m. Casual attire; no flowers.
